Zoukak is looking for a Communication Officer whose focus is to design and implement the communication & public relation strategy. We are looking for someone with a solid experience in communication with a focus on copyrighting and excellent writing skills in Arabic and English. Additionally, a good experience in coordination with various other connected professionals such as designers, photographers, videographers etc.

Main Tasks

General tasks

  • Gather and/or create written content in English and/or Arabic
  • Create, update and manage content on all communication channels including: Website, Newsletter, Social Media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter…)
  • Reply to audience inquiries on all online channels including emails.
  • Conceive and produce a Guest Kit for the space; a printed or online publication about the space, with images and various relevant written information
  • Provide PowerPoint presentations about Zoukak in general, or a specific activity, when needed
  • Produce Zoukak’s portfolios, presentations and marketing materials
  • Produce the annual activity report
  • Liaise with the graphic designer to deliver all communication materials needing outsourcing related to the activities
  • Liaise with the audiovisual practitioners for materials and documentation when needed
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of printed advertising material (posters, flyers, brochures…)
  • Communicate with, invite and welcome individuals from the press before, during and after the activities
  • Produce and disseminate press releases for all the activities

Deliver the communication material of all Zoukak Activities

  • Create and manage and regularly update the yearly communication plan (who, what, when, where) for all Zoukak programs 
  • Workshops/ Training modules / Mentoring / Co-productions & Residencies
    • Write the call and the application form with the collaboration of  the artistic director lead in both English and Arabic
    • Create the diffusion elements needed to advertise for the call such as the selection application, the website news, newsletter, the social medias posts etc. in English and in Arabic
    • Coordinate the production of the outsourced audiovisual materials with the graphic designer, the photographer, the videographer etc. 
    • Disseminate the call on social media and through the website and newsletter and other channels
    • Communicate about the activity to the general public, before and after its implementation
    • Design and implement the M&E processes (audio-visual documentation)
    • Archive all audiovisual materials such as photos, videos and press clippings
    • Communicate with the participants
  • Touring in theatres locally and internationally
    • Coordinate with the partner’s communication teams to ensure a good dissemination of the event 
    • Provide portfolios for the performances such as photos, posters, the synopsis and other communication information to be used by the partner
    • Coordinate the production of any translation needing outsourcing and approving it
    • Create the diffusion elements needed to advertise for the event  such as the website news, newsletter, the social medias posts etc. in English and in Arabic
    • Communicate about the activity to the general public, before and after its implementation
    • Design and implement the M&E processes (audio-visual documentation)
    • Archive all audiovisual materials such as photos, videos and press clippings
  • Hosting / Curating events and performances
    • Collect artistic portfolio including photos, posters, synopses and other communication information from hosted artist 
    • Coordinate for the production of any translation needing outsourcing and approving it 
    • Create the diffusion elements needed to advertise for the event such as the website news, newsletter, the social medias posts etc. in English and in Arabic
    • Communicate about the activity to the general public, before and after its implementation
    • Design and implement the M&E processes (audio-visual documentation)
    • Archive all audiovisual materials such as photos, videos and press clippings
  • Producing a publication (printed or audio-visual)
    • Identify the graphic & audio-visual teams
    • Contribute to defining the graphic &  audio-visual aesthetic direction
    • Liaise between the artistic director in charge of producing the publication’s content and the various teams working on the final outcome for the production aspects
    • Communicate with the printing house (in the case of a printed publication)
    • Promote the publication through various communication channels

 

Enhance Zoukak visibility & Audience Building; Build relationships

  • Implement Zoukak’s visual identity, in collaboration with the communication strategist, the graphic designer, the artistic directors 
  • Manage the communication with the  fellows and audience circles as well as the relationship building including the organization of the annual and specific events
  • Prepare and launch Zoukak’s monthly newsletter and the regular news
  • Manage and strengthen the relationship with the press beyond the specific activities
  • Rely on the use of the website and social media to reach a larger audience in order to get national, regional and international exposure
  • Network with other organizations to increase Zoukak’s visibility and engage with Zoukak’s partners, support members and stakeholders
  • Support in the development of a strategy for international touring and dissemination of Zoukak Company’s artistic work
  • Contribute to and implement the communication strategy related to audience building, including head of missions, curators, festival directors, artists, potential partners and funders, NGO managers etc.
  • Contribute to the writing of funding proposals, providing pre-existing materials and support in the proofreading 
  • Represent Zoukak when needed by taking part in interviews (newspapers, magazines, TV, Radio, etc…)

Archiving

  • Maintain the contacts databases (press, partners, supporters, professors, artists, cultural institutions, local and international collaborators etc.) and update them regularly
  • Maintain the database of funders and potential funders
  • Develop and maintain Zoukak’s audio-visual library
  • Archive the communication materials (soft & hard) for all Zoukak productions and activities (press releases, flyers, posters, synopses, photos, videos, press reviews, interviews etc.)

Qualifications and requirements

  • Previous experience in communication management, journalism, public relations, or other relevant professional fields, with an emphasis on writing original material
  • Previous experience in the arts and culture sector and/or in the civil society/ development fields
  • Experience in managing the communication needs of various projects from beginning to end
  • Fluency in Arabic, English. French is a plus
  • Expertise in MS. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe (Photoshop is a plus). 
  • Knowledge in press and media fields
