Call for Auditions

Zoukak Theatre is looking for 12 to 15 theatre makers and performers to participate in a series of workshops leading up to a theatre performance based on the story of Pinocchio. 

This new creation will take place at Zoukak Theatre starting November 2023 and until April 2024.

Project Synopsis: 

This project aims to create a theatre performance that combines the classic story of Pinocchio with real-life stories of Lebanese youths, as seen through the eyes of the youths themselves, who lived through all the hardships experienced in Lebanon since 2020.

Applicants will be required to take part in a 2-day audition workshop on Saturday, November 25th and Sunday, November 26th, 2023 from 11 AM till 5 PM 

The final selection will be announced by mid-December and communicated to the participants to confirm their participation in the project. 

Requirements: 

• Age range: up to 35 years old;
• At least 3  years of experience in theatre; 
• Participation in a previous workshop by Zoukak is a plus;

Full attendance of the below activities as part of the project over the period of four weeks, between the 19th of February 2024 and the 7th of April 2024 (dates to be confirmed after the audition);

• A 2-day collective research workshop; 
• Guided individual practical research;
• Creative labs/training;
  • Acting
  • Devised Theatre
  • Collaborative Communication
  • Set & Costume Design 
• Performance rehearsals;
• 6 performances.

Stipend: 

700 USD per participant (to be paid at the end of the project to participants who took part in the overall process). 

This project is in collaboration with UNESCO Beirut under the project BERYT.

يطلق مسرح زقاق هذه الدعوة للمشاركة في تجارب أداء بحثًا عن 12 إلى 15 ممثلة وممثلا مسرحيّا  للمشاركة في سلسلةٍ من ورشات العمل لخَلق عرضٍ مسرحيّ يستند إلى قصّة بينوكيو.

يمتدّ العمل على هذا المشروع الجديد في مسرح زقاق بدءًا من شهر تشرين الثاني 2023 وحتى نيسان 2024.

موجز المشروع:

يهدف هذا المشروع إلى دمج قصة بينوكيو مع قصص شباب لبنانيّين، ممّن مرّوا بتحدّيات تعصف بلبنان منذ العام 2020، وإنشاء عرض مسرحيّ يساهم في إطلاق حوار حول تجارب الشباب وتحدّياتهم في لبنان.

 ستقام تجارب الأداء يومَي السّبت والأحد في 25 و26 تشرين الثاني 2023 من الساعة 11 صباحًا حتى 5 مساءً.

تُعلَن الأسماء النهائيّة بحلول منتصف شهر كانون الأوّل وحيث يُبلّغ المشارِكون/ات لتأكيد مشاركتهم/ن في المشروع. 

المتطلّبات:

• الفئة العمريّة: حتى 35 عامًا؛
• خبرة لا تقلّ عن 3 سنواتٍ في العمل المسرحيّ؛ 
• تُعد المشاركة في ورشة عملٍ سابقةٍ مع زقاق ميزةً إضافيّة؛
• حضور كامل الأنشطة المذكورة أدناه كجزءٍ من المشروع على مدى أربعة أسابيع، بين 19 شباط 2023 و7 نيسان 2024 (سيتمّ تأكيد التواريخ بعد تجارب الأداء)؛
•  ورشة عملٍ بحثيّةٍ جماعيّةٍ لمدّة يومَين؛ 
• البحث العمليّ الفرديّ الموجّه؛
• المختبرات الإبداعيّة/التدريبات:       
  • التمثيل
  • الخلق المسرحيّ الجماعيّ
  •  التواصل التشاركيّ
  • تصميم الديكور والأزياء.
• التدريبات للعَرض؛
• 6 عروض.

الأجر:

700 دولار أميركيّ لكلّ مشارِك/ة (يُسدّد الأجر في نهاية المشروع للمشارِكين/ات الذين أتمّوا المشاركة الكاملة).
