This program creates hybrid connections, collaborations, and intersections between different sectors and individuals. Artists and practitioners in development sectors are invited to collaborate and implement interventions leading to creative forms1 within social contexts.

With all the challenges and difficulties of the current times, clusters and social disconnections seem to be emphasized. The collective debate is generally drowning in alienating dichotomies and in gaps in critical thinking around contemporary history. Individual and personal choices are often hijacked. Today, the current collapse in Lebanon pushes us urgently to ask the questions of narratives, choices, and focus, and to take creative actions.

The program takes place in 3 phases:

Phase 1: The Workshop
1st, 2nd, 3rd of July 2022, Beirut

A 3-day residential workshop in Nonviolent Communication, Social Organizing, and exploring the possible intersections between the Performing Arts and Development practices using Theatre as a tool to connect, create ideas, and build relationships. At the end of the workshop, participants gain skills in empathy, positive collaboration, campaigning, storytelling, and social organising strategies. Selected participants pair-up or form groups to devise creative interventions in specific social contexts that they would design and implement following the workshop.

Accommodation, food, and transport will be provided to participants

Phase 2: Mentoring and grants
July - October 2022, Beirut

Selected projects that emerge within the workshop are mentored for 4 months, and receive a grant of 1000-3000 USD that would support their implementation.

Phase 3: Interventions
November 2022

Following the mentoring phase, and with the support of the grant received, the selected groups implement interventions in the social context they chose and share them with the audience. They participate in a final event to present their projects.
