Under Correction
Project Presentation
By Sawsan Bou Khaled
Friday 9 November 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Université Saint Joseph - IESAV
Entrance by Invitation only
As a part of Focus Liban, artists residing in Lebanon are invited to present their projects to a public of local and international curators. Sawsan Bou Khaled will be speaking about her project Under Correction
Synopsis
“Under correction” is a solo performance on happiness. It is an attempted conference where words could lose their meaning and become absurd when confronted with a distorted body. A tragic yet ironic body hesitates between becoming tamed and well-conditioned to integrate society, or displaying its deformity and reclaiming its unique being.
Artist's Biography
Director, author, and performer of her own creations, Sawsan Bou Khaled lives and works in Lebanon. Since 2012, she teaches theater directing at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (IESAV) for the master degree students. At the heart of her theater work is the body as a site of struggle swinging between fiction and reality. The body often develops further into “Machine made Scenography” creating an organic universe, both epidermal and sensory.
