On Friday 26 October, the Beirut Groove Collective presents a Halloween special at Zoukak Studio featuring British Innsbruck-based DJ, digger, record collector and record store founder Justin Barwick. Join us for our first ever ALL NIGHT DANCING PARTY at Zoukak! Zombies, Punks, Vampires and Werewolves welcome... if they can dance.
Barwick will be spinning a set of obscure '60s garage fuzz stompers and heavy soul groovers, alongside the BGC DJ crew Ernesto Chahoud, Jackson Allers and Natalie Shooter's sets of Deep Soul, '60s Garage, Arabic Funk and Groove, Ethio Soul Stompers and Raw Punkers.
About Justin Barwick
London-born, Innsbruck-based DJ, record collector and founder of record shop Downtown Sound and label Weekender Justin Barwick, aka FunkSoulRebel, has an enviable record collection of obscure dancefloor cuts ranging from rock and roll and soul to acid folk, psych and deep and fuzzy '60s garage. He's been DJing since 1979 and has played at legendary spots such as Casino Royale, Psych-a-Rella and the annual MOD Ball at The 100 Club. He's also toured Europe over the last 10 years as half of the DJ concept night My Generation vs Your Generation.
About the BGC
The almost decade-year-old Beirut Groove Collective combines the DJ efforts of BGC co-founder Ernesto Chahoud (***and his record store/label Darsko), filmmaker and BGC turntable veteran Jackson Allers, and longtime collector, digging connoisseur, writer and super smooth DJ of all things soul Natalie Shooter. Together with their BGC cohorts, they run the only Strictly Vinyl weekly club night in the Arab world - featuring the finest 60s and 70s floorshaking music - Ethiopian Bangers, Northern Soul, Deep Funk, 60s Garage, Soul, Breakbeat, Prog-Rock, Mod, Lebanese stompers, Arabic psychedelia, Motown.
