ZOUKAK THEATRE COMPANY WINS THE CULTURE FOR PEACE AWARD FROM THE CHIRAC FOUNDATION, FRANCE
Zoukak received the Culture for Peace Award from the Chirac Foundation in the official Awards Ceremony on Thursday 23 November, 2017 at the Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac Museum, in the presence of the french president Emmanuel Macron. Zoukak won the Award for its dissemination of theatre as art therapy to the refugee populations in the camps in Lebanon.
For this occasion, Zoukak received a visit from The French Minister of Culture, Mrs Françoise Nyssen, the French Ambassador Mr. Bruno Foucher along with other French officials, on the 4th of November, during a Drama Therapy workshop with children. Mrs. Nyssen congratulated Zoukak and addressed the children, encouraging the work being done by Zoukak on the level of social inclusion through theatre.
CULTURE AWARD FOR PEACE
The CHIRAC Award for conflict prevention, supports people involved as role models in the prevention of conflicts, often at the risk of their lives. The attribution of the award allows affirming an international recognition of their efforts, encouraging new vocations, and providing additional financial resources for the continuation of their commitment to peace.
